Industrial Equipment and Supplies For A Successful Business

Hi, my name is Trevor Hamblin and I have written this blog about industrial equipment and supplies. It's very important that business owners keep the necessary supplies and equipment on hand to run their operation efficiently. I became interested in industrial equipment and supplies after talking with my neighbor who owns his own business. I never realized how many different supplies were needed to run a business until he explained it to me. After we spoke, I started doing some research on my own and found out a lot more information. Since I believe this is important advice that every business owner should know, I wanted to write a blog about it. I hope that after learning about the industrial equipment and supplies that are needed, you'll also have a better understanding of all that's required.

3 Important Features To Consider When Buying Hand Trucks

Blog

When it comes to moving supplies in bulk, you often rely on specialized loading dock equipment. Hand trucks, in particular, are coveted devices because of their strength and easy operation. If you're looking for the right hand truck to make these transportation jobs easier, keep in mind these features.

Size

Today, you can find hand trucks in a wide variety of sizes. The larger trucks are used for industrial applications and typically cost more. If you're lifting lighter equipment and materials, however, smaller hand trucks may suffice.

Always keep in mind the space in which you plan on working around. If you need to get through narrow corridors and walkways, compact trucks are the best option. They generally don't weigh much either, which makes them easy to use for hours.

Be sure to check your space limitations first, so you can select a truck that works for your particular work area.

Wheel Type

How well you maneuver these trucks largely depends on the trucks' wheels. If you plan on using these trucks indoors, where there aren't as many debris and objects in your way, choose swivel casters. These wheels rotate 360 degrees, a design that gives you freedom of movement in tight, high-traffic areas.

In terms of outdoor use, it's a good idea to look for wheels that have a pneumatic design. Filled with air, these tires effortlessly go over rocks, cracks, and other obstacles that get in your way. Then you have polyurethane wheels, featuring a heat-treated design that allows them to last much longer than plastic or rubber wheels. These wheels typically work best on flat, smooth surfaces.

Design

Hand trucks have come a long way since the traditional dolly. You now have many design options to select from, such as a four-wheeled truck. It features a large flat surface that can support a lot of weight. Since these trucks have more surface area than traditional dollies, losing balance is not a regular occurrence.

There are also trucks that have a 2-1 design. When you're hauling smaller materials, for example, you can use the dolly. For large, bulky items, you can quickly convert the dolly into a four-wheeled truck that gives you maximum control. You get the best of both worlds.

There are so many hand trucks available today. Compare the different types and focus on features that impact your daily work schedule. Then, you can select a hand truck that works out long-term.
